The fuel company Tevel, a subsidiary of Russia’s state company Rosatom, announced in a statement the signing of contracts with Egypt to supply low-enriched nuclear fuel components for the experimental research reactor “ETRR-2” in 2024.
“The Tevel plant and the Egyptian Atomic Energy Agency (EAEA) signed contract documents for the supply of low-enriched nuclear fuel components to Egypt,” the statement read.
“Cooperation is taking place within the framework of a long-term contract to export nuclear fuel components for the ETRR-2 reactor to Egypt, and the product range includes uranium components, as well as products made of aluminum alloys and aluminum powder, and delivery will take place in 2024,” the statement added.
The ETRR-2 reactor, located at the Egyptian National Center for Nuclear Research in the village of Anshas, is used for scientific research in the fields of particle physics, materials science, and radioisotope production.
