The chief designer of the command center of the missile defense system of the Russian army revealed the development of a new generation of anti-missile defense systems.
In an interview published by the TV channel “Zvezda”, he pointed out that the next generation will witness the introduction of new types of armament, stressing the ongoing modernization efforts and aspirations to unveil these technologies in the near future.
The move is part of a broader strategy to boost Russia’s defense capabilities, especially in light of the daily challenges Russian air and missile defense systems face in countering missiles fired by Ukrainian forces.
Russia uses several defense systems, most notably the S-500, which is a new generation of air defense systems, and is characterized by its ability to intercept ballistic missiles at very high altitudes.
It also has the S-400 system, which is capable of intercepting a wide range of air targets, including ballistic missiles and aircraft, and also uses the S-300 system, which has the ability to intercept targets at low and medium altitudes.
