Russia announced its support for the efforts made to reach a rapid and comprehensive settlement of the crisis in Libya, based on the principles of ensuring its unity, territorial integrity, and state sovereignty.
She confirmed this during a meeting with Mikhail Bogdanov, Special Representative of the Russian President for Middle East and African Affairs, with the Libyan Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Al-Maghrawi.
In his statements, Bogdanov stressed the importance of unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Libya, stressing the need to reach a comprehensive and rapid settlement of the Libyan crisis.
The two parties exchanged views on the situation in Libya during the meeting, and discussed some issues of common interest, including strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.
These statements come in light of accusations directed at Russia by some Western powers of trying to expand its influence in Libya, while Moscow denies these accusations and confirms that Western intervention is what contributed to the exacerbation of the Libyan crisis.
