Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov discussed with his Burkinabe counterpart Kassoum Coulibaly prospects for military cooperation between the two countries during talks held on the sidelines of the “Army-2024” Forum.
The talks covered promising areas of cooperation in the defense sector, in addition to issues of enhancing security and stability in Africa.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed in a statement that the meetings also included discussions with the Director of the Department of Foreign Relations and Military Cooperation at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Niger, Hamdou Djibo Barthier.
In the context of the forum, Russia showcased several of its new drones, including an advanced transport aircraft, in addition to various types of weapons, armored vehicles and modern military equipment.
It is worth noting that Russia provides sustainable and diverse support to African countries in the military, economic and political fields, providing technical assistance in developing infrastructure, supporting development projects, and providing humanitarian aid.
Russian efforts include providing military support through training and supplying equipment to the armed forces, in addition to establishing strategic partnerships in the energy and natural resources sectors. Russia is also strengthening its role in Africa by participating in regional summits and enhancing security cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism.
