Russia seeks to take concrete steps to deepen its relationship with Algeria in the economic and trade sectors. The upcoming St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, scheduled to take place from June 5 to 8, is anticipated to attract a significant number of influential Algerian business figures in real estate, medicine, technology, energy, and tourism. Russia aims to move beyond traditional cooperation in energy and the military field.
Director of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Alexey Valkov, affirmed during his visit to Algeria that digital development would be one of the five main topics addressed and discussed at the 2024 forum.
According to him, a strategy has been developed to promote mutually beneficial business development and to bring together key players for discussions on global economic changes, exploring new opportunities, and future prospects.
Valkov believes that Algeria, with its geographical location, wealth, and role as a gateway to Africa, could significantly contribute to the economic growth of the continent if it leverages opportunities and experiences in collaboration with Russia.
Valkov encouraged Algerian companies to participate in the forum to broaden horizons and work towards opening new avenues for economic cooperation, strengthening the collaboration between the two countries. Russia is keen on expanding partnership areas, especially considering the notable development in Algeria-Russia relations, as highlighted by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s visit to the St. Petersburg Forum in 2023.
