The Russian corporation “Rostec” announced that it will continue to develop and test new radars capable of detecting drones flying at very low altitudes.
“Engineers at our Rybinsk machine building plant were able to develop new radars capable of detecting drones flying at very low altitudes, and a batch of these radars was delivered to a special facility for testing,” the foundation said in a post on its website.
Rostec explained that the new radars are capable of detecting and tracking various types of land and water objects as well, and can recognize birds, animals and humans, and their range in tracking objects reaches 10 km.
Andrei Komogortsev, general manager of the Repinsk plant, noted that these radars are currently undergoing testing at one of the protected facilities, stressing that serial production is expected to begin by the end of this year.
These radars, according to Komogorsev, are small and easy to transport, as well as advanced digital algorithms that enable them to recognize various types of objects.
These radars can be installed in strategic locations near facilities that are protected from drones so that they are difficult to detect by drones.
