The Moroccan Ministry of Health announced the registration of 21 deaths due to high temperatures, most of them elderly and people suffering from chronic diseases.

A statement from the Regional Directorate of Health and Social Protection in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region stated that the regional hospital center in Beni Mellal recorded 21 deaths on July 24, including 4 cases outside the hospital and 17 deaths in hospital.

The majority of deaths were among people suffering from chronic diseases and the elderly, as the high temperatures contributed to the deterioration of their health condition, which led to their death.

The regional directorate confirmed that following the circulation of news about the registration of sudden deaths due to high temperatures, the relevant services opened an immediate investigation to find out the real reasons behind this.

All citizens were warned to exercise caution, avoid exposure to direct sunlight, and consult health services when necessary.

The Ministry of Health stressed the importance of following health guidelines, especially during periods of extreme high temperatures, and advised citizens to drink sufficient amounts of water, stay in cool places, wear light clothing, and avoid strenuous physical activities during peak times.
