Wael Abdel Moaty, an expert at the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), revealed that there is a basin in front of the Libyan side on the seacoasts called the “Herodotus Basin”, which is the largest of two basins that include a very large reserve of gas in the eastern Mediterranean.

Abdel Moaty confirmed in special statements quoted by the “Zero” platform, that the amount of gas in the basin is equivalent to the quantities in the Levant basin, where the undiscovered amount is estimated at about 122 trillion cubic feet of gas.
