The Tunisian National Railway Company announced the resumption of the train line linking Tunis and Annaba in Algeria, starting from Sunday, August 11, 2024.
This announcement comes after a hiatus of several years, as the company seeks to strengthen economic and social ties between the two countries.
According to the company’s statement, there will be three trips per week departing from Tunis station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 08:25 am, while return trips will be from Annaba station on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 09:00 am.
The train will stop at several stations along the line, including Beja, Jendouba, Ghar dimaou and Souk Ahras.
Ticket prices for a single trip were set at 38 Tunisian dinars for second class, and 44 dinars for first class. Round-trip tickets are also available at reduced prices, with special discounts for children and free transportation for children under the age of four. The company requires advance reservations for trips.
This resumption came within the framework of a commercial agreement concluded between the two national railway transport companies in Tunisia and Algeria, following a successful test flight in July 2024 aimed at ensuring the readiness of the infrastructure and the safety of the railway line that extends over a distance of more than 357 kilometers between Tunis and Annaba.
