According to Sudanese press reports, the head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, informed IGAD of his agreement to hold a direct meeting with the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti”.
According to the Sudan Tribune website, Burhan announced his agreement to meet Hemedti but has conditions before holding this meeting.
The conditions include a ceasefire and the withdrawal of the RSF from citizens’ homes and civilian objects.
On Thursday, when addressing a military rally in the Red Sea state, Burhan revealed the possibility of engaging in negotiations with the Rapid Support Forces but stressed that he would not sign a peace agreement that “humiliates and humiliates the people and the armed forces.”
Burhan’s speech came a few days after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took full control of Gezira state, including the city of Wad Madani, after a sudden withdrawal of the Sudanese army from the city.
