An investigation by CNN has revealed the practices of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, where the group deliberately threatens civilians between the “conscription or death” options.

According to the investigation published by the network, the RSF has forcibly recruited hundreds of people, including children, over the past three months.

The RSF used “horrible” tactics to force residents to join them, including intimidation, torture, and summary executions, as well as blocking communications and restricting access to the media, making it difficult to obtain accurate statistics on events.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the RSF practices repressive policies and threats to the lives of civilians who refuse to recruit, while providing food and medical aid in exchange for joining its ranks.

In a related context, the United Nations warned of the possibility of a famine crisis in Sudan, as a result of the deterioration of food supplies and high prices, which strengthens the role of the Rapid Support Forces in controlling food and using threats and cruelty to achieve their goals.
