A media report revealed that the Egyptian Federation will not summon Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, despite the latter’s announcement of his desire to join the team and participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In recent hours, controversy has arisen over whether Mohamed Salah will be in the Egyptian Olympic squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Eram News quoted a source within the technical staff of the Egyptian Olympic team that Micali, the team’s technical director, did not choose Mohamed Salah, captain of the national team, among the selected list for the Olympics.

The source added that Micali “decided his choice of five players” including three starters and two substitutes in the event of an injury.

According to the source, Micali paid special attention to the inclusion of Imam Ashour and Mohamed Abdel Moneim from Al-Ahly, and Mustafa Mohamed from Nantes, to strengthen the team’s ranks in preparation for the Olympics.

He pointed out that Mahmoud Hassan, known as (Trezeguet) from Trabzon, Turkey, and Ahmed Fattouh from Zamalek, were also selected to join the team in the event of any of the main players injured.

The source confirmed that Micali did not consider Salah among the necessary options for the team for several reasons, including his confidence that Salah will not leave his club to participate with the national team, and because he has three distinguished players occupying the same position.
