The Libyan Football Association announced today, Saturday, the extension of the contract of Serbian coach, Micho, for a period of sixteen months, until the African Cup of Nations, in order to lead the team.
The extension was announced during a press conference in Italy, in the presence of Micho and the President of the Federation, Abdelhakim Al-Shalmani, who stated that Micho will lead the team until the end of the Arab Cup and the local African Cup of Nations tournaments, in addition to the World Cup qualifiers.
Al-Shalmani explained during the conference that Micho’s new contract includes specific financial details and enhanced technical arrangements with the addition of a physical trainer, a performance analyst and a translator within the technical staff. The performance was also reviewed during the last period and work was done to improve the weak points that appeared.
For his part, Micho expressed his gratitude for the continuous support he receives from the federation and the fans, stressing his readiness and optimism about the team’s capabilities, and stressed his commitment to pushing young and talented elements to participate with the first team, indicating that this step will enhance the team’s strength in the future.
Micho also stressed the importance of proper planning for the coming period, with a focus on preparations for the upcoming confrontations against the teams of Nigeria, Benin and Rwanda in order to secure a place for Libya in the African Cup of Nations finals.
