U.S. Special Envoy to Libya Richard Norland confirmed the renewal of the Libyan-American Memorandum of Understanding on the Protection of Libya’s Cultural Heritage.

Norland expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he and U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Jeremy Brent received from the head of the Libyan Antiquities Authority, Dr. Mohammed al-Shakshouki, and his team at the Red Fort during the celebration of the renewal of the U.S.-Libya Memorandum of Understanding on the Protection of Libyan Cultural Heritage.

“We are pleased to continue to collaborate through this memorandum to protect and preserve Libya’s rich cultural heritage,” Norland said on the U.S. Embassy’s X account, adding: “We look forward to the museum’s reopening and its magnificent display of antiquities.”
