Russian activity in Africa is witnessing an increasing increase in light of the close relations between Moscow and the capitals of the African continent, after the clear rise of national liberation movements, and the successive elimination of European colonialism and its destructive effects, with Russian assistance.
On July 15, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Middle Eastern and African Affairs, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, who is in Addis Ababa on a business trip, met with the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat.
During the talks, a substantive discussion took place on a range of issues related to further strengthening interaction between Russia and the African Union, including coordination of the principled approach at the United Nations and other international platforms.
At the same time, the importance of effective implementation of the action plan adopted following the outcomes of the Second Russia-Africa Summit in St. Petersburg in July 2023 Russian Federation – African Union for the period 2023-2026 and the actual holding of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi in November 2024 was emphasized.
During the exchange of views on the international and regional agenda of common interest, the main attention was given to issues of maintaining peace and security on the African continent, including the tasks of resolving the situation in the Sahara and Sahel region, the Great Lakes region, Africa, as well as Sudan.
In addition to political and economic support to African countries, Russia provides a wide range of food and security assistance by helping to rehabilitate law enforcement authorities and fight terrorism , It also helps countries that got rid of European colonialism in rebuilding their capabilities.
