Advisor to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces Ibrahim Mukhir called for holding Sudanese army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan accountable after the latter’s statements regarding the political process in Sudan, describing them as “disappointing” statements.

This came after a speech Burhan gave to officers and soldiers of the Sudanese army in the eastern state of Gedarif, in which he said: “There will be no political process in the country if the war does not end,” and criticized in his speech the commander of the Rapid Support Forces Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (Hemedti), saying: “How can a peace agreement be concluded with someone who does not abide, and every day has a different opinion?”

In response to Burhan’s speech, Mukhir said in press statements: “The Sudanese are looking for peace and looking for any opportunity to achieve stability, or at least a truce that allows them and international organizations and Sudan-loving countries to bring relief.”

Mukher continued: “To alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese, Dagalo left Sudan and made his well-known tour in search of peace, and responded to all peace initiatives, the most important of which was the initiative presented by former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdok.”

“RSF officials responded to the talks in Bahrain’s capital, Manama, and had great hope that this communication with the deputy commander of the Sudanese army, Shams al-Din al-Kabbashi, could lead to a state of calm in the battle areas, leading to an agreement,” Mukher said.

“The control of the Islamic Movement and its members within the army seems to be strong, and I think this statement shows that the Sudanese army has become weak in the face of Islamist organizations that see no choice but to spread panic and practice terrorism,” Mukhir said.
