Peruvian police on Saturday raided the home of President Dina Bolwarte as part of an investigation into suspected corruption.
About 40 officers took part in the raid in search of Rolex watches not declared by Bulwarty, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
Authorities had launched an investigation into Boluarte following a press report that she was wearing luxury watches from an anonymous source that was not disclosed in official records.
The raid was broadcast by the local television channel Latina, which was carried out in a joint operation between the police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Boluarte assumed the presidency in December 2022 after former President Pedro Castillo tried to dissolve the Senate and govern by decree, leading to his ouster and arrest.
Dina Boluarte has been under preliminary investigation for possessing an undisclosed collection of luxury watches since her appointment in July 2021 as Vice President and Minister of Social Inclusion, and then as President.
