The International Federation of Association Football Association (FIFA) has announced that Qatar will be awarded the hosting of the next three editions of the Arab Cup, in 2025, 2029 and 2033.
A statement issued by “FIFA” explained that the decision came at the request of the Qatar Football Association, as Qatar will be the official host of the Arab Cup in the mentioned years.
Qatar has previously expressed its desire to host the Arab Cup again in December 2025, as revealed by Minister of Youth and Sports Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani during a television interview with beIN Sports in mid-February.
Sheikh Hamad stressed: “As a Qatari, I say Qatar has announced its desire, but as vice president of the Arab Federation, there is no clear decision.”
Sheikh Hamad said: “There is an idea that the Arab Cup will be a complement to the last edition, at the same level and under the umbrella of FIFA and the Arab Federation, we are in the final steps that the tournament will be held in December 2025 in Qatar under the umbrella of FIFA.”
It is noteworthy that Qatar hosted the last edition of the Arab Cup in December 2021, which witnessed the participation of 16 Arab teams, as Algeria won the title at the expense of Tunisia, in a mini-dress for the 2022 World Cup.
