Russian President Vladimir Putin has decreed the appointment of Mikhail Mishustin as head of the Russian government again, after the State Duma approved his appointment to the post following his nomination by Putin.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the appointment of the Russian head of government, and in line with paragraph (a) of Article 83 of the Russian Constitution, Mikhail Mishustin was appointed head of government,” the Kremlin statement said.
During its session on Friday, the Russian State Duma agreed to reassign Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to head the cabinet and form the government.
375 MPs supported Mishustin’s appointment proposal, while 57 abstained.
Mishustin thanked the deputies for their approval, stressing that they supported President Putin’s proposal, adding that candidates for ministerial portfolios and deputy ministers will be considered in the State Duma in the coming days.
Mishustin is expected to present to President Putin no more than a week after his appointment his proposals for the composition of the federal executive bodies.
Within 14 days, the Prime Minister will submit a list of his candidates for the posts of deputy ministers and federal ministers, with the exception of the departments of homeland security, defense, and foreign affairs, which are subject to special procedures.
