Protests continue in Senegal, specifically in the city of Ziguinchor, where one person was killed last week, bringing the total number of casualties to 3 across the country.
A 16-year-old student was killed on Saturday evening during a demonstration in the southern city of Ziguinchor, in Casamance province, home to jailed prominent dissident Osman Sonko, where clashes continued between groups of youths and security forces.
During the protests, demonstrators waved the Russian flag, which has become a symbol of the struggle against neocolonialism in many African countries and turned to Russian President Vladimir Putin for help.
Senegal has been witnessing widespread protests since President Macky Sall announced the postponement of presidential elections on February 3, just three weeks before the election.
