MP in the Libyan Presidential Council, Moussa al-Koni, received on Thursday the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batelli, where the latter gave a briefing on recent meetings with political parties.

The briefing addressed Batelli’s efforts to bring the parties closer together to overcome the political impasse and create conditions for elections.

Within the framework of the meeting, the two parties reviewed the latest national developments and challenges facing Libya, while stressing the need to support the political process aimed at achieving stability and preparing the ground for the upcoming elections.

Battele expressed his support for the political parties’ moves towards stabilization and reiterated his commitment to continuous engagement to enhance his understanding of the situation and encourage the parties to build Libya’s stability.

For his part, MP Al-Koni praised the efforts of Batili, stressing the support of the Presidential Council for the UN mission, and called for holding a national dialogue between the Libyan parties to achieve recommendations that contribute to holding fair elections in accordance with fair laws.

The meeting also dealt with the situation in the southern regions affected by the low level of services and waves of migration of migrants and stressed the need to support efforts to secure borders and combat organized crime to ensure the stability of the south and achieve sustainable development.
