Police have arrested two players from the same Premier League club after receiving a report that they were involved in rape.
The English newspaper “The Sun” wrote that “the two players are 19 years old and belong to the same club and were arrested to investigate an alleged rape.”
The newspaper reported that the two players, whose names have not been revealed, were arrested over the weekend, from inside their club’s stadium, after reporting to police.
The newspaper pointed out that the police informed one of the players that he is suspected of assault, aiding and abetting rape, before he was officially arrested to spend a night behind bars, while the other player, was arrested the next day and interrogated before being released on bail, pending further investigations.
A spokesman for the duo’s club, which was not disclosed, said: “As the matter is now in the hands of the police, the club will not make further comments at this stage.
