Brussels Airlines suffered heavy financial losses due to multiple strikes by pilots and cabin crew, leading to many flight cancellations and chaos among passengers.

The company’s chief financial officer, Nina Overdick, pointed to the immediate impact of the strikes, recording a profit loss of 58 million euros in the first quarter of the year, compared to 43 million euros in the same period last year.

The surprise strike on January 13, 2024, led to the cancellation of between 70% and 80% of Brussels Airlines flights scheduled for that day.

Brussels Airlines is the national airline of Belgium and a subsidiary of Lufthans.

It is suffering an increase in its losses, with earnings before interest, tax, and depreciation of -58 million euros in the first quarter of the year, compared to -43 million euros in the same period last year.
