Tunisian player Ons Jabeur was eliminated from the quarter-finals of the French Open tennis tournament, the second major tennis tournament, held on the Roland Garros clay courts.
Jabeur, ranked ninth in the world, lost to her American rival Coco Gauff, one set to two, with a score of (6-4), (2-6), and (3-6) in the match that brought them together on Tuesday.
With this defeat, the “Tunisian Minister of Happiness” lost for the fifth time to her American competitor in direct confrontations between them, in exchange for only two victories.
Thus, 20-year-old Coco Gauff qualifies for the semi-finals of the tournament, which has a total prize pool of more than 53 million euros, where she awaits the winner of the match that brings together the world number one, Polish star Iga Szwiłtek, the defending champion, and Czech Marketa Vondrošová.
