Russian forces continue to confront the attack launched by Ukrainian forces in the Russian province of “Kursk”, while the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the elimination of 280 soldiers and the destruction of 27 armored vehicles during the last day, bringing the total losses to 945 soldiers and 102 armored vehicles since the beginning of the attack.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that its forces continue to repel the Ukrainian army’s attempt to penetrate Russian territory, adding that “the process of destroying Ukrainian forces units is ongoing.”

The statement stated that the losses of Ukrainian forces during the last 24 hours exceeded 280 soldiers and 27 armored vehicles, including 4 tanks, 5 armored personnel carriers, 18 armored combat vehicles, in addition to 6 cars, a 155 mm M777 howitzer, a 155 mm Crab self-propelled gun, and a 152 mm D-20 gun.

The statement said that over the past day, units of the Northern Group of Forces and the reserves that were brought in, with the support of army aviation strikes and artillery fire, thwarted enemy units’ attempts to launch raids deep into Russian territory on the Kursk axis.

According to the statement, since the start of the fighting on the Kursk axis, Ukrainian forces have lost a total of about 945 servicemen and 102 armored vehicles, including 12 tanks, 17 armored personnel carriers, 6 infantry fighting vehicles, 67 armored combat vehicles, in addition to 12 vehicles, two “Buk-M1” anti-aircraft missile systems and 3 pieces of field artillery.

Russian forces targeted Ukrainian units in the areas of the towns of Darino, Gogolevka, Milovoye, Nikolsky and on the western outskirts of the city of Sudzha with their fire.

Airstrikes destroyed five “Stryker” armored personnel carriers in the Yuzhny region, a Ukrainian column consisting of a tank, four armored personnel carriers and a Kozak armored fighting vehicle in the area of the village of Martynovka. Air and missile strikes also targeted enemy reserves in the Sumy region on the Ukrainian side of the border.

In this context, the Russian newspaper “Moskovsky” “Komsomolets” considered that the situation in the Kursk region is not critical, but alarming, explaining that units of the Russian Armed Forces, along with the border guards, continue to expel units of Ukrainian forces after they succeeded in stopping the enemy’s advance.

It added that the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine contacted the Commander of NATO Forces in Europe about the attack, thanking him for his assistance, thereby acknowledging the complicity of the United States and NATO in the attack.

It quoted the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the All-Russian Organization of “Officers of Russia”, Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Roman Shkurlatov, as saying, “It can be assumed that the enemy has been preparing for this for more than a month. They conducted reconnaissance, looked for loopholes in our defenses. Naturally, with the help of Western partners, with the participation of their intelligence network, including drones and spy satellites,” and continued, “We do not know the enemy’s plans, but we can assume that he is trying to show off his offensive activities to his Western sponsors.”

“It is unlikely that the plan is to try to take over swaths of Russian territory,” Matthew Saville, director of military science at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), told Sky News. “The Ukrainians don’t have a lot of reserves, the Russians do, and it would be difficult for the Ukrainians to maintain a medium-sized force in Russia now.”

In the same context, the Chairman of the Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights Valery Fadeev stressed that he calls on international organizations to recognize the terrorist nature of the actions of the Kiev regime in Kursk.

Fadeev said: “I am now preparing an appeal to international organizations, including human rights organizations, to demand recognition of the terrorist nature of the actions of the Kiev regime in the Kursk region.”

He stressed that during the Ukrainian forces’ attack on the Kursk region, they deliberately targeted civilians. He added: “These are not random victims, and what unfortunately happens during the fighting are deliberate killings, as a pregnant woman was killed, there are wounded children, with back wounds, and a chase is underway for civilian cars.”

He pointed out that these are just some of the facts and realities, and after repelling the attack, “it will be necessary to compile a complete list of the crimes committed and take appropriate measures.”

Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced yesterday that 66 people, including 9 children, were injured as a result of the shelling of the Russian Kursk region by Ukrainian forces since last Tuesday.

It is worth noting that Ukrainian forces launched an attack on the Russian Kursk region bordering Ukraine since August 6.
