Zain said that the visit of Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus Bek Yevkirov to Niger in early December came within the framework of reviving cooperation between the two countries.

The Nigerian Prime Minister added that the aim of this visit is to stimulate cooperation in all sectors, saying: “We know very well the level that Russia has reached in the field of agricultural production, and we intend to develop cooperation in this field.”

Regarding aid, Zain stressed that the importance of cooperation embodies the principle of mutual benefit, noting that Niger sometimes needs the support of friends to help it achieve progress.

Zain concluded his speech by stressing Niger’s desire to develop cooperation with Russia and all peace-friendly countries, stressing that this goal is embodied in achieving tangible gains.

The visit is the first of its kind by a Russian delegation at ministerial level to Niger since the junta took office at the end of July.
