Armed men launched an attack in southeastern Niger, killing three government employees and a soldier who was accompanying them.
The army announced in a statement yesterday, Sunday, that “militants attacked a car, killing four people.”
Local sources explained that the victims were on an official mission in the Diffa region, which has been subjected to repeated attacks since 2015 by extremist groups such as Boko Haram and the terrorist organization ISIS.
The attackers fled after carrying out the attack, according to what the army confirmed in its statement.
The Diffa region overlooks Lake Chad, which, with its vast areas, swamps and small islands, is considered a safe haven for terrorist groups.
The Diffa region suffers from instability, as it has witnessed many bloody attacks that have claimed the lives of many and affected the stability and security of the region since 2015, launched by extremists from Boko Haram and the terrorist organization ISIS.
