The head of the Russian Coordination Center in Hmeimim, Major General Sergey Alexandravesh Gashkov, announced the provision of assistance to the nursing staff at Tishreen University Hospital in Latakia.
Major General Gashkov said that the aid comes in appreciation of the efforts of the nursing staff at Tishreen University Hospital during the response to the earthquake disaster and includes 8 tons of humanitarian aid and 2 tons of medical materials.
The aid provided through the Avangard center in addition to Tishreen Hospital included an orphanage and shelters for those affected by the earthquake in several areas within the province.
Alekperov Zapilovich, entrepreneur of the Avangard Educational and Methodological Center, said 47 food rations were provided in the Al-Gharraf neighborhood, in addition to a number of health and food items for children.
Sergei Ratushin, head of the humanitarian aid department at the Hmeimim Reconciliation Centre at the Hmeimim base, said the aid includes gifts for children living in the orphanage, food rations and sweets on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
The Russian initiative included visits to Tishreen University Hospital, the shelter for those affected by the earthquake in the Al-Gharaf area, the orphanage of the Islamic Charitable Endeavors Association in Latakia, and a shelter center in the Naqaa area in the city of Jableh.
