The Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces (TAQADDUM) issued a warning on Friday of the danger of the disintegration of the Sudanese state in light of the continuing armed conflicts.
The coordination, headed by former Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, revealed in a statement a new initiative to stop the war, after meetings of its body in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
The Coordination stressed that the war will only bring devastation, division, and destruction, and warned on the first anniversary of the outbreak of events in Sudan, of the devastating effects of the war, in addition to the specter of famine that threatens millions of Sudanese.
According to its statement, the coordination put forward recommendations to end the war and rebuild the state by pressuring the warring parties to open access routes for humanitarian aid and provide protection for humanitarian aid workers.
The Coordination expressed its support for any effort to stop hostility between the Sudanese, to be followed by a comprehensive ceasefire, and the start of a process to reach a comprehensive political solution.
In a related context, the Sudanese prosecution filed lawsuits against 17 leaders of “Taqadum”, including Abdullah Hamdok, after local and regional political activity, where the coordination signed an understanding with the Rapid Support Forces that includes the formation of a joint committee to end the war.
The Coordination has also made attempts to negotiate directly with the Sudanese army with a view to achieving tangible progress towards peace, with international participation and monitoring.
