New humanitarian aid from the Russian government has reached those affected by flooding and torrents in eastern Libya, according to the Russian Embassy in the country.
The Russian Embassy stated in a post on the Telegram application, “On January 29, Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief’s airplane arrived in Benghazi with another batch of humanitarian aid to the residents of the eastern regions of Libya, that were affected by the floods in September 2023.”
Storm “Daniel” struck eastern Libya in September 2023 and caused massive floods that led to the collapse of two dams near the city of Derna, submerging more than a quarter of the city overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, resulting in thousands of victims.
