The US Navy announced on Sunday that it had received distress calls from two ships that were attacked while crossing the Red Sea.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that an Indian-flagged Gabon oil tanker
reported a drone attack launched by the Houthis while crossing the Red Sea on Saturday evening.
A Norwegian-flagged chemical and oil tanker also sent a distress call after being attacked by a drone, but no injuries were reported in the attacks, the statement said.
The statement confirmed that the US destroyer USS Labon, which was patrolling the Red Sea on a patrol mission, responded quickly to distress calls from the two targeted ships.
The US military said in another statement that these attacks constitute the 14th and 15th attack on commercial ships by the Houthis since October 17.
Ansar Allah targets ships owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel when they pass through the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a barbaric war since October 7.
In a related context, the United States announced, last Monday, the formation of an international coalition, including ten countries, including Britain, France and Italy, to counter Ansar Allah attacks in the Red Sea.
