The Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vassily Nebenzia, stressed at a meeting of the UN Security Council that what is happening in the Red Sea is the result of the brutal Israeli operation in Gaza.

“The problem of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden is not evolving in such a worrying way in a vacuum, I think it is unlikely that any of our colleagues will deny the fact that what is happening in the Red Sea is a direct result of the violence in Gaza,” Nebenzia said.

According to him, “the escalation in other occupied Palestinian territories as well as on the border between Israel and Lebanon is also due to the situation in Gaza.”

“It’s no secret that in the Middle East they are deeply disappointed that the United States all this time has been covering Israel’s actions, holding the rest of the Security Council members hostage and not allowing them to adopt a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, and by using its veto Washington is undermining all efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians.”

“This is the cause of anger in the Arab world, which sometimes takes dangerous forms such as Nasrallah’s operations in the Red Sea.
