Dr. Shawqi Allam, the Mufti of Egypt and head of the General Secretariat for the role and fatwa bodies in the world, confirmed that the Egyptian army was a strong supporter of the popular will during the June 30 Revolution, which contributed to protecting Egypt.
Allam explained that the Egyptian army was fully aware of the danger surrounding the country during that critical period.
He pointed out that this role is not strange to the Egyptian army, which received praise from the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and his family and grant them peace.
The Mufti of the Republic mentioned the noble hadith in which the Prophet praised the Egyptian army, where he said: “If Egypt is conquered against you, take up a heavy army there; That army is the best army on earth.” When Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may God be pleased with him, asked the Prophet about the reason for that, he replied: “Because they and their wives and children are in bondage until the Day of Resurrection.”
Allam noted that there were attempts to cast doubt on the hadiths about the charity of the Egyptian army after the June 30 revolution, stressing that Dar Al-Iftaa responded scientifically and with a disciplined approach, as it studied these hadiths and refuted all the suspicions that tried to weaken them, and proved the authenticity of the hadith based on the reality of the chain of transmission and various paths.
Allam confirmed that Dar Al-Iftaa has proven the authenticity of the hadiths of the Egyptian army’s charities by studying all the narrators and the text of the hadith, indicating that this testimony is confirmed by Egyptian reality and history, and the positions of the Egyptian army throughout history.
Allam added that there have been clear attempts since the founding of the Brotherhood in 1928 to exclude respected scholars and undermine their credibility, describing the scholars as authoritative scholars, due to their opposition to the group’s approach.
He explained that Al-Azhar’s curriculum relies on pluralism without exclusion, by studying all Islamic schools of thought according to a scientific methodology.
The Mufti of the Republic stated that Al-Azhar teaches and builds minds to achieve stability in societies, and that the true Al-Azhari is a constructive element and not a destructive element, and that Al-Azhar thought is targeted, stressing the necessity of adhering to Al-Azhar and developing ideas.
He said that Al-Azhar is considered an impenetrable dam against corrupt and extremist ideas, pointing out the importance of development, criticism and continuous research within the framework of the Al-Azhar curriculum to ensure the continuity of its constructive role in society.
