Mosquitoes attacked the headquarters of the German national team’s training camp for the Euro 2024 tournament, according to a report published by the British newspaper “Daily Mail”.
The German national team players reside in a luxurious training center located in a forest area near the Bavarian city of Herzogenaurach.
Despite offering all the luxury amenities, including an outdoor pool and relaxation areas, the team faces an unexpected problem: a mosquito infestation.
The region witnessed a large proliferation of insects due to the floods and rains that coincided with the start of the European Championship, which prompted the players to spend most of their time indoors to avoid the constant attacks of mosquitoes outdoors.
Julian Nagelsmann, technical director of the German German Football Association, said in previous press statements: “We have an abnormal epidemic of mosquitoes. We have to make sure that there is some wind and that there are not many mosquitoes.”
Despite the challenges, Germany leads the Group A table with 7 points after beating Scotland (5-1) and Hungary (2-0) and drawing with Switzerland (1-1).
