Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced on Wednesday (January 17th) that by bombing Yemen, the United States is seeking to distract from the failures of its Middle East policy and influence voters in the country’s upcoming presidential elections.
Zakharova said the United States is concerned about its interests and domestic circumstances, wondering to what extent the United States will be able to influence the votes of voters through its actions in other regions outside its borders.
“The United States will erase any mark, burn any history textbook, demolish any monument that testifies to the facts, put up fake monuments, and write false books, as is the case in Eastern European countries.
Russia has sharply criticized the United States and Britain for carrying out military strikes in Yemen, which Moscow said had escalated tensions across the Middle East and showed a complete disregard for international law.
