Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov affirmed Russia’s support for the Transitional Sovereignty Council, while Rapid Support Commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo announced his cooperation with the United Nations.
Bogdanov discussed with Shamsuddin Kabashi, Deputy Commander of the Army and member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, ways to strengthen bilateral relations, where Kabbashi praised the Russian support, stressing Sudan’s commitment to dialogue and peace and countering any attempts aimed at undermining the sovereignty and stability of the country.
Bogdanov announced Russia’s rejection of any foreign interference and plans to divide Sudan, while Sudanese Foreign Minister Awad Hussein Ali expressed concern about these interventions and their impact on regional stability.
The Sudanese foreign minister pointed to the common challenges with Russia in the face of external interference, explaining that the internal conflict will not stop the army from ending the transitional period with free and fair elections.
Bogdanov’s talks coincide with comments by RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, who revealed contacts with the United Nations to ease the humanitarian crisis.
Dagalo explained that his phone conversation with Ramadan Lamamra, the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, addressed the current situation in Sudan and the serious humanitarian challenges faced by the population.
The discussion touched on current events in North Darfur state, including repeated barrel bombardment targeting civilians and even livestock, he said.
Dagalo stressed that his forces are exercising their right to self-defense against the continuous attacks they have been subjected to since the beginning of the conflict.
