Statistics from the National Union of Grain and Legumes Traders (F.N.C.L) showed that Morocco imported more than 81.3 thousand tons of soft wheat from Russia during December 2023.
This figure represents 25% of Morocco’s total wheat purchases until the end of 2023. With this achievement, Russia ranked third as a major supplier of wheat to the kingdom, after France and Lithuania.
At the end of December, Morocco’s total wheat imports reached 315.587 thousand tons, a significant decline from November, when the quantity reached 500.726 thousand tons, a decrease of more than 185 thousand tons.
For their part, the Moroccan authorities pointed out that imports vary according to market conditions, asset competitiveness and supply needs in the local market.
