The Moroccan government has issued a decision to confiscate Algerian-owned properties in Rabat under the pretext of improving and expanding facilities belonging to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the document published in the Official Gazette, there are three properties owned by the Algerian Republic in Kabalia with an area of 619 square meters, and a property called “Zanzi” with an area of 630 square meters containing a two-story building and offices on the ground floor with facilities.

The document pointed out that the third property covers an area of 491 square meters, and is called “Villa de Soleil Lofoun”, and three other properties belonging to Moroccans have been expropriated.

The decision was issued on the proposal of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, and signed by the Moroccan Prime Minister, Aziz Akhannouch.

The document explains that the decision aims to “serve the public interest and expand the administrative headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates” in the Rabat region.
