Morocco ranked fourth among the world’s most Schengen visa applicants in 2023, with Moroccans submitting 591,404 visa applications, an increase of 39.7% compared to 2022.
The” SchengenVisanfo” website, based on data from the European Commission, said that Moroccans ranked fourth among the world’s most visas applicants, after China, which topped the list with 1.11 million applications, Turkey 1.05 million, India 966,000, while Russia comes after Morocco with 520,387 applications.
The total number of visa applications submitted globally in 2023 was 10.3 million, an increase of 37% over 2022, and 82% (8.49 million visas) were accepted, compared to an acceptance rate of 78.4% in 2022.
In terms of changes in ranking, Turkey fell from first place in 2022 to second place in 2023, while China saw a strong return from twenty-second place in 2022 to first place in 2023, and India and Morocco maintained their third and fourth places respectively.
Visa applications from Russia have seen a significant decline, with Russia ranking fifth in 2023 from second in 2022, down 24.2%.
The” SchengenVisaInfo” report also noted a decline in Schengen visa rejection rates, with only 16% of all applications rejected in 2023, or about 1.6 million rejected applications, compared to a rejection rate of 17.9% in 2022 and 13.4% in 2021.
