The Moroccan city of Tetouan is preparing to host the 29th edition of the Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival, which will take place from April 27 to May 4, 2024.
This course is sponsored by Tetouan Professionals in its second edition and aims to support feature and documentary films hosted in the Mediterranean countries.
Twelve of the 150 projects submitted by young people from Mediterranean countries were selected by film experts and specialists.
The authors will present their works in front of a jury made up of Moroccan journalist and screenwriter Bahaa Trabelsi, German producer Christoph Thucki, Egyptian film and television series director Kamel Abou Zekry, and Italian film expert Antonio Pozzetto.
This edition is expected to witness strong participation from producers and distributors from different Mediterranean countries, with the aim of exchanging experiences and benefiting young people from their experiences.
Among the selected projects, the documentaries included five projects from Morocco by Jawad Babili, Mohamed Ali Saghraoui and Hassan Maani, as well as Lebanon’s Dima El Gendy, and co-directed by Anthony Mezzi and Angelique Müller from Malta.
In the feature film category, projects from Palestine, Italy, Morocco, and Tunisia were selected, with the participation of distinguished young directors, producers and authors, including Palestinian Dima Hamdan, Italians Andrea Magnani and Erin Dionizio, Moroccan Tawfik Baba, Tunisians Moufida Fadila and Anis Al-Aswad, in addition to Egyptian Ahmed El Hawari.
The Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival aims to promote cultural and artistic exchange between the countries of the region, highlighting the cinematic diversity enjoyed by the Mediterranean countries, and the city of Tetouan, with its rich cultural and artistic heritage, is an ideal place to host this festival, which reflects its uniqueness in the field of art and culture.
