Libyan leaders will meet in Morocco next month to renew the electoral process in Libya, The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, and the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, in addition to the President of the Council of State, Mohamed Takala, will participate in the meeting.
Given the differing positions of the Libyan parties, the Moroccan initiative is still part of the preliminary preparations, especially with Takala’s reluctance to participate in previous talks, including those to which he was invited in Paris and Cairo, according to the “Africa Intelligence” website.
A meeting was scheduled to be held between the Libyan leaders in Cairo, but Takala’s withdrawal from the meeting led to its postponement, and Aguila Saleh seeks to resume the electoral process with the aim of forming a new unified government, while Takala opposes the plan and strongly supports the current Prime Minister, Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh.
