New data on the structure of the working population in Morocco reveal that 49.9% of them do not have any degree, 32% have an intermediate degree, and 18.1% have a higher degree.

The uncertified working population is distributed among agriculture, forestry, and fishing, followed by construction and public works at 56.7%, industry, including handicrafts, at 40.9%, and 34.7% in the services sector.

Commenting on these data, applied economist Mohammed Amin al-Hasani explained that “workers in the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector who do not hold certificates reflect the weak development of this sector, as previous programs and strategies for the development of this sector neglected the human element, and did not ensure its effective participation during previous years.”

Al-Hasani added that “the labor market represents a reflective mirror of the level of development of economic development,” stressing that “the number of jobs created is one of the main indicators in calculating the growth rate,” noting, in the same context, that “the acceleration of unemployment rates last year, in relation to the continued repercussions of the Corona crisis, waves of inflation and international geopolitical tensions.”
