Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi is close to extending his contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain, after the two parties reached a preliminary agreement.
The French “Radio Monte Carlo” network reported that the Paris Saint-Germain administration had agreed to Hakimi’s participation in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. As one of the three players over the age of 23, this shows the club’s commitment to the player.
The agreement comes despite rumors linking Hakimi to a possible move to Real Madrid to join his close friend Kylian Mbappe.
Some rumors spread on social media about Hakimi’s disagreements with coach Luis Enrique, after Hakimi was removed from some matches. Some sites also addressed Hakimi’s dissatisfaction with the team’s playing style.
But the relationship between Hakimi and coach Enrique does not seem bad, as Enrique relies mainly on Hakimi in his project for the future of the club.
Hakimi, who joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2021 from Inter Milan after successful professional experiences with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, is now considered one of the most valuable Arab players on the market, with his market value estimated at 65 million euros.
On the other hand, the Moroccan national team, nicknamed the “Atlas Lions,” is preparing for a strong confrontation in the Olympics against Argentina on July 24, in the second group competitions of the tournament, before facing the national teams of Ukraine and Iraq in an attempt to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Morocco also continues to shine in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, with the “Atlas Lions” topping their group after defeating Zambia with a score of 2-1 at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir.
