Moroccan Football Federation President Faouzi Lekjaa has denied accusations by some Algerian media that he interfered in the appointment of referees during his seven-eight-year presidency.
Lekjaa stressed his integrity and commitment to transparency in the management of Moroccan football affairs, explaining that if he intervened in these matters, his team “Nahdet Berkane” would have won the Moroccan league and the Moroccan team would have won championships.
“I did not interfere in refereeing, whether locally and continentally, and even in the World Cup we were subjected to refereeing injustice, but believing that error is possible, we must accept mistakes because referees are human beings in the end,” he added.
The president of the Moroccan Federation pointed out that the CAF Referees Committee has not been staffed by any Moroccan official since its inception.
