The security authorities on the outskirts of the Moroccan city of Fez were able to arrest a dangerous criminal dubbed the “Monster of the Forest,” who terrorized girls and women in the “Ain Chaqf” forest.
The operation came after intense efforts by members of the Royal Gendarmerie, which resulted in identifying his identity and whereabouts. His location was raided, and he was arrested on Sunday.
The Moroccan National Territorial Surveillance Directorate had provided vital information about the suspect, which helped in unraveling the threads of the case and ending the chain of terror experienced by women and girls in the region.
Investigations began after the security authorities received a number of reports of attacks in the same area. A special team was formed to track down the perpetrator using advanced investigation and surveillance techniques, as the accused was lurking around women while they were exercising and attacking them using a blade-like weapon similar to a sword.
The arrest operation was widely praised by citizens and human rights organizations, who expressed their satisfaction with this decisive step in combating crime and protecting society, while investigations are still continuing to reveal more details about the case.
