The General Command of the Army in Mali announced the launch of a joint air campaign with Burkina Faso forces in the Tinzaouatine region, aiming to enhance security and protect civilians and their property against terrorism.

The operation began yesterday, Tuesday, and used modern warplanes obtained by the Malian army from Russia in March 2023, and focused on targeting hideouts and logistical sites used by terrorists to launch attacks against civilian targets.

Several vehicles suspected of being used in illegal smuggling activities were destroyed, and the military command called on civilians in the region to exercise caution and stay away from areas controlled by armed groups to avoid accidental casualties.

This air campaign comes within the framework of joint defense cooperation between the Sahel countries and confirms the Confederation’s commitment to achieving regional stability and security, and is part of a comprehensive strategy for security, defending the sovereignty of states, and protecting citizens.
