The Director General of the Development and Reconstruction Fund for Libya, appointed by the House of Representatives, Belkacem Khalifa Haftar, on Tuesday, signed work contracts with Turkish companies to implement several projects in the city of Benghazi.

Belkacem signed a signing with major Turkish companies specializing in general contracting, equipment, and infrastructure to start their work on several projects in Benghazi, according to the House of Representatives’ Reconstruction and Stability Committee.

These projects include the maintenance and completion of the Central Library of the University of Benghazi, the development of sewage treatment plants, and the cleaning of the 23rd of July Lake to achieve the city’s Sustainable Development Goal and ensure clean beaches free of pollutants.

The committee explained that the projects will go through the study and design phase before the actual start of works, with the aim of ensuring their sustainability and effectiveness to serve the Libyan citizen in Benghazi.

This cooperation comes in light of the improvement of relations between Turkey and the commander of the Libyan army, Khalifa Haftar, with the continued signing of contracts and agreements between the two parties with the aim of implementing reconstruction projects in areas affected by floods and natural disasters in Libya.

Western Libya is witnessing relentless attempts to bring about a major renaissance by attracting large companies, restoring economic activity, and advancing development processes.
