Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron congratulating him on winning his new term and discussing bilateral relations and the situation in Gaza.
The Spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic in Egypt, Ahmed Fahmy, stated that the French President was keen to congratulate the Egyptian President on the occasion of his re-election as President of Egypt for a new presidential term, stressing France’s continuation in strengthening the distinguished cooperation relations with Egypt, which the President valued, stressing for his part the depth of Egyptian-French relations and the importance of continuous efforts to strengthen them in all fields.
The spokesman stated that the call also touched on the regional situation, where the French President listened to the vision of the Egyptian President on the need to stop military operations in the Gaza Strip to protect civilians and access humanitarian aid without hindrance and in quantities that meet the urgent needs of the population of the Strip, and the two presidents agreed to intensify the relevant joint efforts, and stressed the importance of avoiding what would expand the scope of conflict in the region in order to ensure the capabilities of its peoples.
The two Presidents also agreed on the need to work hard internationally to advance efforts to settle the Palestinian issue in a just and sustainable manner through the implementation of the two-state solution.
