Inter Miami’s coach announced that Argentine star Lionel Messi will miss his team’s next two matches in the American Football League after suffering an injury to his right ankle during his country’s victory in the Copa America final.

Messi, 37 years old, was injured in the 64th minute of the final match of the continental competition held in the United States, which ended with Argentina defeating Colombia 1-0 after extra time, retaining their title.
Messi was seen leaving the “Hard Rock Stadium” in Miami due to his injury, and sitting on the bench, while cameras showed significant swelling in his ankle.

Messi will miss Inter Miami’s home matches, Wednesday against Toronto FC, and Saturday against Chicago Fire.
His coach, Gerardo “Tata” Martino, explained that Messi will undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury, noting that the results will determine the period of his absence.

For his part, Messi expressed his thanks for the messages and support he received after the match via a post on Instagram, saying: “I want to thank everyone for the messages and greetings. “I am fine, and I hope that soon I will be able to return to the field again and enjoy what I love to do most.”

It is noteworthy that Inter Miami occupies second place in the Eastern Region of the league with 47 points after 23 matches, with 14 wins, 5 draws and 4 defeats, one point behind leader Cincinnati, and the team will begin the campaign to defend its title in the League Cup designated for American and Mexican clubs next week.
