The Minister of State for the Illegal Immigration Affairs in the Libyan government, Fahti Altabawi, renewed his rejection of settling or sorting migrants in Libya, and denied any mistreatment of migrants.
Al-Tabawi’s remarks came during a working meeting organized by the ministry in cooperation with Al-Manahil Al-Afaq Company for Training, Development and Rehabilitation.
Al-Tabawi stressed the importance of the migration file as a priority for the Libyan government and the General Command and called on the security media to highlight the importance of this file.
Libya is a destination country for migrants who enter it through smuggling networks, he said, and their presence is illegal.
He pointed out that Libya has suffered due to the repercussions and political crises in neighboring countries, which cast a shadow on the situation in Libya and are still paying the price, especially the long stay of migrants before crossing to the destination countries, which affected the economic and security situation.
